Domaine Alphonse Mellot - The Romans 2018
Domaine Alphonse Mellot is located in Sancerre, in the Loire Valley. At the beginning of the 19th century, Alphonse Mellot created an inn in Sancerre where he made people appreciate the wines of the country and thus gave his business a boom that would continue to grow. In 1881, a license was granted which allowed him to ship his wine to France and around the world. Since that date, the family business has continued to expand, from father to son, the eldest of each generation bearing the first name of the founder. Wines in the Sancerre appellation are produced at the Domaine de la Moussière but Alphonse Mellot ( 19th generation) and his sister Emmanuelle also operate vineyards in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation.
