Clos Saint Vincent - Vino di Gio - Red 2020
Clos Saint-Vincent is located in Nice, in Provence , in the Bellet appellation area. It has belonged to the Sicardi and Sergi families since 1993. From the initial 2 hectares, Gio Sergi , a self-taught thirty-something at the time, revitalized the fallow estate by extending the vineyards to 10 hectares and directing production towards cultivation. of high quality grapes, with an emphasis on organic and biodynamic growing methods. Despite the topographical difficulties marked by steep terrain, Gio patiently undertook the replanting of the terraced land, reviving the old vines still present. The Bellet terroir is characterized by a combination of siliceous limestone, rolled pebbles and sandy puddings, benefiting from a microclimate that is both very sunny, but also cooled by the altitude and the winds.
Vino di Gio Rouge is made from old Folle Noire vines (90%) grown on pebble soil mixed with very light sand (poudingue). The grapes are harvested manually at optimal maturity then carefully sorted. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats with manual punching down and vatting lasts a maximum of 30 days. The wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels .
Grape variety: 100% Folle Noire
