Château CANON 1993
Château Canon , is a 34-hectare estate located in Saint-Émilion , Bordeaux . It is classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the latest Saint-Émilion wine rankings. In 1760, the frigate lieutenant and privateer with the eponymous name - Jacques Kanon, originally from Blayais - acquired the Domaine de Saint-Martin thanks to the profits from the races he carried out on behalf of Louis XV at the expense of English ships . He immediately undertook the construction of an elegant residence near which he developed the monoculture of vines on all these plots, an extremely rare strategy at that time. Later in 1919, the Fournier family took over the reins of the château before handing it over to Chanel in 1996 . Château Canon occupies a limestone terrace facing southwest, at an altitude of 87 meters where Merlot and Cabernet Franc are grown.
The Grand Vin of Château Canon is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . Aging is carried out in French oak barrels with a medium or medium-long toasting. The 1993 vintage for Bordeaux was complicated. A wet spring developed into a hot summer, however, September and October brought heavy showers. Many wines have suffered from dilution but the best can still drink well now.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc
