Hervé Villemade - Cheverny Rouge 2022
Domaine Hervé Villemade is located in Cellettes, in the Cheverny appellation area in the Loire Valley. The family estate founded in 1939 has been managed by Hervé Villemade since 1995. He immediately established organic farming and gentle, natural winemaking. The vineyard extends over 23 hectares divided into two groups: the historic vineyard of 13 hectares, and the second of 10 hectares planted in 2009. Since a trip to Georgia in 2012, Hervé Villemade has equipped his cellar with different types of amphoras : Georgian kvevris, Italian clays, sandstone… Each has its own particularities and allows different gas exchanges.
Cheverny Rouge is a blend of Gamay (60%) and Pinot Noir (40%) . Vinification is carried out in whole clusters and maceration lasts 15 days. The wine is aged in wooden vats .
