Eastern Tales 01 “The Rooster” is the inaugural vintage of the opening of our gastronomic restaurant Constantia , on September 6, 2024 in Bordeaux. Representing loyalty and punctuality, the rooster is the tenth sign of the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. In Chinese culture, the rooster has a symbolic meaning with generally auspicious connotations. For the ancestors, the crowing of the rooster was a notable sign because it wakes people up and ends the darkness. This Single Malt comes from the Ben Nevis Distillery - Peated , located in the Highlands of Scotland . It was distilled in 2014 and aged for 10 years in Bourbon hogshead casks ; larger capacity barrels (250 liters) that impregnate the wood less intensely, thus offering a more subtle refinement. It was bottled in April 2024 at cask strength (58.1%). Only 140 bottles were produced.

Tasting comment from Fabien:
A few years ago, I suggested to Mika that we create an exclusive series with him for our restaurant, Constantia : a range of different spirits, designed to be perfectly showcased alongside our chef's creations. And so it was that the Eastern Tales collection was born, an exclusive series for our establishment. The packaging, with its refined labels, is inspired by Chinese astrological signs, in line with our cuisine and the subtly Asian decoration of the restaurant.
For this very first opus, we take you to Scotland with this Ben Nevis 2014 , a real favorite for me! Its aromatic profile is marked by an intensely peaty character, with notes of smoke, tar and earth, typical of peaty whiskies. In the background, sweeter aromas of vanilla, caramel and dried fruits are revealed, all balanced by a slight salty touch, reminiscent of the sea air of the west coast of Scotland. On the palate, This whisky is generous and full-bodied, offering flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and a smoky intensity that lingers for a long time. The finish is long, warm, with a beautiful complexity between peat and spicy nuances. An experience of a great length...
