Domaine Vacheron - Sancerre Blanc 2023
Domaine Vacheron is located in Sancerre , in the Loire Valley. The family estate, started by Maurice Vacheron in the early 1900s, is now run by third-generation winemaking cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron . Since 2004, the 48-hectare estate has been farmed using certified biodynamic methods . This shift to biodynamic practices was made to allow the distinct terroirs of Sancerre to be showcased in the wines; Domaine Vacheron is planted on flint-rich, clay-limestone soils topped with flint. In the vineyard, everything is hand-harvested and the only fertilizer permitted is compost. In the winery, vats are the primary fermentation vessel, while a minimal amount of oak is used on some plots.
Sancerre Blanc comes from plots of Sauvignon Blanc located half on flint and half on limestone terroirs. The age of the vines varies from 30 to 50 years. The wine is aged for 4 months in vats .
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
