Domaine Coquelicot - Metronome - BIO 2015
Domaine Coquelicot, located at the western limit of the Bergerac appellation represents 5 ha, mainly planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Grégoire Rousseau was from the start oriented towards a work respectful of nature, soils, the notion of terroir. Obviously the search for maturities is important. However, the singularity of the estate could be this notion of aging in barrels (sometimes new). There is here a work, a balance, a particular touch which is right! Is it the geographical position of the domain that explains the finesse and elegance of the wines, on grape varieties deemed difficult.
We are geographically much closer to a Lussac, a Puisseguin than to Bergerac (the city). Coquelicot is a young estate created in 2006. First vintage in 2007. Grégoire does not come from the world of wine but he studied it well ... In summary, it is meticulous work that balances notion of terroirs, grape varieties and aging .. without forgetting the "DRINKABILITY" which is so important to us! Well done and thank you, Grégoire!
