RUM LONGUETEAU - White Rum - Parcel Selection Red Cane n ° 1 - Numbered x / 6000 - 55%
The Longueteau family arrived in Guadeloupe in 1766, it was towards the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie, then put up for auction following a crisis of the sugar industry. A few years later, in 1895, he decided to purchase the Esperance home to move from being a sugar factory to a distillery.
Today it is François Longueteau who takes care of the house, the only distillery of Guadeloupe whose owner is at the same time the farmer and the master distiller. His rums are 100% derived from his own sugar cane. The juices are harvested and crushed the same day to their full maturity, following a 48h fermentation "without special effects" (no antifoam, no acidifying or other additions ...), the juices are then distilled in a column Savalle 28 trays. There are 12 patches on the estate on which grow two varieties of cane, red cane (R579) and blue (B69.566).
This white rum of Longueteau Selection Parcellaire N ° 1 is derived, as its name suggests, from the plot n ° 1. Entirely planted in red cane, this plot is full of sun and is part of a very dry environment. The result is a powerful rum with citrus notes and a finish that oscillates between sublime spices and a charming freshness of minty notes. With this plot selection, Longueteau invites us to make a brief stopover in Guadeloupe while we tap on the spot.
