Clos de Tart - The Forge of Tart 2017
The Clos de Tart was founded in 1141 by the Bernardine nuns of the Abbey of Tart, dependent on that of Cîteaux.
In 1791, the Clos de Tart became the property of Marey-Monge then it was sold in 1932 to the Mommessin family, originally from Mâconnais, who is the sole owner. It is a vineyard of a single plot of 7.53 hectares located on the Finage of Morey-Saint-Denis in Côte de Nuits.
Since its creation, this Clos has never been fragmented and it is today, in Burgundy, the largest Monopoly classified Grand Cru Since the purchase of the property, the parcel work of the vines are done in organic. There is also a revival in the choice of barrel heaters, and in the proportion of new barrels. Formerly 100% it is today well below. The aim is to direct the Clos de Tart towards a more refined wine, with softer tannins, without sacrificing the legendary depth of flavors offered by this historic vintage Since 2019 the vineyard has been biodynamic.
