Maison Mounicq was founded in 2017 by Cédrik Nadé , in Bordeaux . He grew up in Fronsac, in a small family winery. He uses grapes from the Bordeaux region to produce spirits. In August 2018, he created the Vodka Nadé then a year later, the Gin Avem – Hippolais was put on the market.
This quality gin was produced in collaboration with Christophe Gauville , Master Distiller of the Des Moisans distillery based in Sireuil, in the south of Cognac. Maison Mounicq has developed this gin using an ancestral method generally used for making Cognacs or Whisky: the art of blending.
Gin Avem – Hippolais is a London Dry Gin made in Cognac and blended from three eaux-de-vie . The first distillation is carried out with the four grape varieties used for vodka: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sémillon. During the second distillation, only the juniper berries (essential to produce Gin) are distilled. The third distillation includes aromatic plants: Jamaican pepper, coriander, lemon peel, etc. Finally, these three distilled liquids are put together. This micro-production is limited to 1,118 bottles .
The quality of this gin is recognized by the greatest connoisseurs: it has received eight international distinctions . It won a design medal at the 2022 World Gin Awards. Hippolais was also awarded a Bronze medal in the Gin & Tonic category at the 2022 International Wine and Spirit Competition. These awards are in addition to the medals for gold and silver medals from the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2021 and 2022 as well as medals from the International Spirits Challenge 2020 and the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2021 and 2022.
