PLANTATION RHUM - Fiji - Millésime 2005 - 50.2 %
The history of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand in Cognac. He surrounds himself with a team of enthusiasts and travels around the world to establish a distribution network sharing the same values and the same vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, he set off for the Caribbean with the idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to other producers, notably rum producers. In search of the best rums in the Caribbean, he created Plantation, a range of terroir rums. Today, the House is focused on three great spirits: Cognac Ferrand from Grande Champagne, French Gin Citadelle and Rum from Terroirs Plantation. Plantation also owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond).
Fiji 2005 was designed by Alexandre Gabriel and Liam F. Costello. Distilled entirely in triple column still, the rum is aged for 14 years in Bourbon casks in the Fiji Islands. The final blend comes from 28 barrels and the second aging is carried out in Ferrand French oak barrels, in the House's cellars in Cognac for one year.
