Domaine Fabrice Gasnier - Les Graves - Chinon rouge 2019
Domaine Fabrice Gasnier is located around the village of Chezelet in the Chinon appellation, in the Loire Valley. It has been a family property for four generations, created by Aimé Gasnier who operated the three-hectare estate in polyculture. In 1935, his son Hubert took over the farm and developed wine production during World War II, when wine was a food substitute in times of scarcity. At the end of the 1950s, the vineyard had an area of 17 hectares. Jacky Gasnier, third generation, took over the estate in 1966 and decided to concentrate on wine production; he leads the estate in monoculture and restructures the vineyard. Today, Fabrice Gasnier and his wife Sandrine are in charge. The vineyard now covers around thirty hectares, entirely carried out in organic and biodynamic agriculture certified since 2008.
Les Graves is made entirely from Cabernet Franc, whose age varies between 20 and 40 years, and cultivated on terraces between the river and the hillsides. The grapes are harvested at early maturity. The vinification is carried out in small capacity concrete vats, with a maceration of 20 days in whole grape. Aging on lees takes place in vats.
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
