Bourbon - Michter's US 1 - Bourbon - 45.7%
Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery is located in the historic Fort Nelson building located in Louisville , United States . It was the first distillery to be established in the United States in 1753, but its production regularly stopped, notably during prohibition in 1919. It was in the 90s that Michter's relaunched production.
The Fort Nelson building was purchased in early 2012 with plans to renovate the building and be the first brand to reestablish a functioning distillery in downtown Louisville. Michter's uses only non-GMO American cereals that are classified by USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) standards as US No. 1 ; the highest level of grain quality available in the United States. These grains (corn, rye, barley, etc.) are delivered to the production site in Shively (Louisville), where they are then tested in Michter's laboratory and ground using the "Michter's Cage Mill" which was designed and custom built by Stedman.
Michter's Straight Bourbon US 1 is made from a carefully selected mashbill that contains the highest quality American corn. Each batch is tanked separately to hold a maximum of twenty full barrels , leaving no margin for imperfections and thus requiring excellence in every barrel. The Whiskey is aged in new charred American white oak barrels .
Michter's US 1 Small Batch is a rich and long Bourbon , born from the assembly of 24 carefully selected barrels. This elegant and unpeated Bourbon is very fruity. It brings a beautiful woody and spicy warmth, with a hint of vanilla.
