KARUIZAWA - 12 ans - Millésime 2000 - Dragon Label - Paola Pares - 64.30%
Founded in 1955 by the Mercian company, Karuizawa was built at the foot of Mount Asama, in the town of Miyota, in Japan. Attached to traditional methods, this small distillery made its Single Malt from the Golden Promise variety of barley that it imported from Scotland. If the majority of its production was aged in Sherry casks, Karuizawa still has a few Bourbon casks. In 2000, the distillery ceased all production and in 2011, it closed its doors for good. Since then, the Number One Drinks company, which has become owner of the few remaining barrels, has brought the history of this distillery to life from its vintage bottling.
This expression selected for La Maison du Whisky was one of the last to be distilled by Karuizawa in 2000. It is a Single Cask (# 166) from a Sherry butt (480-520 liters). The Single Malt was bottled in 2013.
