Damien Laureau - Le Bel Ouvrage 2018
Domaine Damien Laureau is located in Savennières in the Loire Valley. Damien Laureau chose to settle with his family in Anjou in 1999. After a few years in Ste Gemmes-sur-Loire at Clos Frémur as a winegrower and arboriculturist, Damien refocused on working in the vineyard in 2006. Engineers in agriculture, Damien and Florence Laureau lead their business with a constant concern for respect and enhancement of the Savennières terroir with certification in organic farming.
Le Bel Ouvrage is a blend of two types of terroir: rhyolites (magmatic rocks present at the entrance to the village of Epiré) and schists flush with the surface on the ground. The Chenin Blanc, harvested by successive sortings on the plots of Chambourcier and Devant le Moulin, is pressed directly. The press hearts are selected, settled for 12 hours and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is encouraged. The wine is aged in barrels on lees for 12 months then in vats for 6 months.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
