Domaine Philippe Gilbert - Cuvée Domaine - Red 2020
Domaine Philippe Gilbert is located in Menetou-Salon , in the Loire Valley . The story begins in 1768, when François Gilbert gave up his job as an innkeeper to take over the vines of his father-in-law. In the early 1900s, the estate was designed in its current configuration and built by Philippe Gilbert, grandfather of the current owner. The terroir is located on marl and limestone from the Kimmeridgian of the Paris Basin from the end of the Jurassic. Since 2006, all of the 29 hectares of the property have been managed with certified biodynamic farming methods.
The Domaine Rouge is made from Pinot Noir from 5 plots. The harvest is mostly destemmed and then left to macerate for 3 to 4 weeks in 90 hectoliter truncated wooden vats. The first year, the wine is aged in these same vats and then in cement vats the second winter.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
