RENEGADE - Studies - New Bacolet - 55%
Renegade Rum Distillery is the latest project from the man behind the revival of Bruichladdich Single Malt whiskey from Islay and the Waterford Distillery based on the terroirs of Ireland: Mark Reynier . He chose Grenada because of its wide range of altitudes, microclimates and soils. In collaboration with CaneCo's agricultural partners, he was able to cultivate many varieties of sugar cane across the island on the different terroirs. Old and young, skilled or amateur, many Grenadians have learned new skills, mastered modern machinery, and turned parts of the island into high-quality sugarcane farms.
New Bacolet from the Etudes range is made from a variety called Lacalome Red (B80689) harvested between January 11 and 21, 2021 on the Goat Hill field at the New Bacolet farm, on the clay soil of Upper Combe. The distillation took place on January 21 and 22, 2021 in a still. The rum was transferred to 19 first fill 200 liter American oak barrels of Kelvin Cooperage (76%) and 6 225 liter French oak barrels of Taransaud (24%). 6,000 bottles were produced.
More information is available on the Renegade website in the "CaneCode" section with the code listed on the back of the bottle.
