Domaine Jean Teiller - Encounter - Red 2020
Domaine Jean Teiller is located in Menetou-Salon , in the Loire Valley. It is a family farm created in the 1950s by Léon Millet. In 1986, their son Jean-Jacques , after having worked as a cook, and his wife Monique , joined in this adventure. In 2003, their daughter Patricia and her husband Olivier joined them. The estate extends over an area of 18 hectares, and is located on the best slopes of the communes of Menetou-Salon, Parassy, Aubinges and Vignoux-sous-les-Aix. The entire estate has been certified organic since 2017, with biodynamic certification since 2022.
La Rencontre Rouge comes from a selection of the two oldest plots of Pinot Noir from mass selection over 40 years old. The La Montaloise plot was planted at the end of the 1970s, the Les Treilles plot was planted in the 1960s. After the manual harvest, the harvest is destemmed and sorted, then put into cold pre-fermentation maceration . Alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts, vatting lasts 3 to 4 weeks with some pumping over, punching down and racking. The aging lasts 12 months in barrels, then a few months in vats.
