Bonnigal and Bodet Winegrowers - Bras d'Aunis 2020
Bonnigal-Bodet Vignerons is an estate located in Limeray, in the Loire Valley. The estate has existed since 1927 and is still family-run. It is now the fourth generation, with Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal and his longtime friend Stéphane Bodet , who operates the vineyard. They produce wines under the Touraine Amboise, Crémant de Loire and Touraine appellations, on 55 hectares. For them, the majority of the work is done in the vineyards: tillage, enhancement of the ecosystem, respect for nature and the environment. They are also not very interventionist in the cellar in order to let the terroir of each cuvée express itself fully. The aging tends to be long, in oak barrels and on fine lees.
Bras d'Aunis 2020 is made from Pineau d'Aunis , whose vine is 10 years old, and grown on a terroir of flint clay on limestone bedrock. The harvest is de-stemmed and sorted on a sorting table. The maceration is carried out in barrels of 225 liters . The alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, and the malolactic fermentation takes place in 225 liter barrels of two and three wines. The wine is aged for 20 months: 12 months in 500-litre demi-muids on fine lees, then 8 months in stainless steel vats .
Grape variety: 100% Pineau d'Aunis
