Fleur de Pédesclaux 2017
Château Pédesclaux is located in Pauillac , in the Bordeaux wine region. It was classified 5th Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification. The estate was founded in 1810 by the wine merchant Pierre Urbain Pédesclaux and has changed hands many times. The estate was bought by Lucien Jugla in 1950 and remained in his extended family until the turn of the century. In 2009, the property was purchased by Franco-Swiss millionaire Jacky Lorenzetti (owner of Château Lafon-Rochet, Lilian-Ladouys and Issan). He launched a program of renovation and acquisition of additional vineyard land, almost doubling the size of the estate from 26 hectares to 49 hectares. The vineyard is managed in certified organic farming , with biodynamic practices.
Fleur de Pédesclaux is the second wine of the château. The 2017 is a blend of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%) . The average age of the vines is 35 years. The grapes are lightly crushed then put into cold pre-fermentation maceration. The extraction is gentle with unloading and punching down. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels , 30% of which are new.
