CARRUADES DE LAFITE 2021
Château Lafite Rothschild is located in Pauillac , in the Bordeaux wine region. It is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. The property was purchased by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868. The Lafite Rothschild vineyard extends over approximately 112 hectares on sunny, drained sites composed of fine gravel and of sand on limestone subsoil. The vineyard is divided into three parts: the vines on the hillsides around the castle provide the raw material for the great wine, while the adjacent Carruades plateau, to the west, is more responsible for the second wine that bears its name. In addition, a 4.5 hectare plot of land in Saint-Estèphe also belongs to the estate; exceptionally, it is authorized to include this fruit in its wines classified in Pauillac.
